Job Overview: The position of Individual Consultant to Monitor and Report Livelihoods Activities in the Southwest Region (SWR) of Cameroon involves overseeing and reporting on the revitalization of agricultural production, the reconstruction and construction of productive infrastructure aimed at economic revitalization, and the restoration of livelihoods through small business reconstruction. The consultant will be responsible for monitoring the progress of these activities, ensuring that they align with the objectives set forth by UNDP, and providing detailed reports on the outcomes and challenges faced during the implementation of these initiatives. This role is crucial for assessing the impact of UNDP's interventions in the region and for making informed decisions regarding future actions. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and beneficiaries, to gather data and insights that will inform the reporting process.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting regular field visits to monitor the implementation of livelihoods activities and assess the progress of agricultural revitalization efforts.
Collecting and analyzing data related to the reconstruction of productive infrastructure and small businesses, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date.
Preparing comprehensive reports that detail the findings from monitoring activities, including successes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Engaging with local stakeholders to gather qualitative insights and feedback on the livelihoods initiatives, fostering collaboration and communication among all parties involved.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP's policies and procedures throughout the monitoring and reporting process.
Providing technical support and guidance to local partners involved in the livelihoods activities, helping to build their capacity for effective implementation.
Participating in meetings and workshops to present findings and discuss strategies for enhancing the impact of livelihoods programs in the region.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
A strong understanding of livelihoods programming, particularly in the context of agricultural development and economic revitalization.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Familiarity with the socio-economic context of the Southwest Region of Cameroon is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, economics, development studies, or a related discipline. A master's degree in a relevant area would be an advantage and may be preferred for this consultancy role.
Experience: The level of experience needed for this position includes at least 3-5 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, particularly in the context of livelihoods and agricultural development projects. Experience working with international organizations, particularly UN agencies, is highly desirable. The consultant should also have a proven track record of successfully managing similar assignments and delivering high-quality reports within stipulated timelines.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English. Knowledge of French is considered a good to have, given the bilingual nature of Cameroon and the need to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is expected to last for a period of three months, during which the consultant will be required to deliver regular reports and updates on the monitoring activities. The position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the consultant will work on a full-time basis. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and the consultant may be required to travel within the Southwest Region of Cameroon as part of their monitoring duties.
