Job Overview: The Business Official (BO) will play a crucial role in managing a potential US CDC-funded project aimed at enhancing Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS). This position involves overseeing the financial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic leadership to the financial analyst team. The BO will be responsible for budget management, financial reporting, and internal audits, while also ensuring that the project aligns with the goals of improving health security globally. The role requires a deep understanding of financial management in the context of government-funded projects, as well as the ability to navigate complex financial regulations and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Official will be tasked with reviewing and analyzing monthly financial reports, providing recommendations for financial planning, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. They will participate in annual budget planning and audit reviews, oversee cash flow forecasting, and manage confidential financial data. The BO will lead risk management initiatives, train staff on financial policies, and ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Additional responsibilities include mentoring financial analysts, developing formal reporting systems, and performing other duties as assigned to support the project's financial health and compliance.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts, financial controls, and financial information systems. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with excellent organizational and project management abilities. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of state and federal financial regulations, as well as experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and automated financial reporting systems. Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent is required for this position. The educational background should ideally be in finance, accounting, or a related field that provides a solid foundation for the financial responsibilities of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5-8 years of related work experience, including at least 3 years in a management role and 3 years working at the corporate or organizational level. Experience managing a analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis department is essential, along with prior work in a non-governmental organization (NGO) and familiarity with international organizations, particularly those funded by US government agencies such as the CDC or Department of State.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language proficiently. Knowledge of the host country language is also preferred, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the project.
Additional Notes: This position is contingent upon the award and donor approval. The role is classified as a career-level manager, working under broad direction with considerable independence. The expected salary range for this position is between USD 90,000 - 120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
