Job Overview: The Principal Investigator (PI) will lead a potential new global project funded by the US CDC, focusing on Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS). This role involves directing the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving health globally through partnerships with Ministries of Health and other governmental institutions. The PI will be responsible for planning and monitoring project schedules and budgets, ensuring that project activities are completed on time and within financial constraints. The position requires strong technical experience in GHS and program leadership, as the PI will work closely with FHI 360’s global country offices to implement capacity-building activities. The role is contingent upon the successful award of the project, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and strategic planning in response to public health threats.
Duties and Responsibilities: The PI will be accountable for creating and maintaining a safe and equitable work environment, ensuring a harassment- and violence-free culture. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to meet goals within specified time frames and budgets. The PI will review project proposals to determine necessary resources and establish work plans and project teams. They will provide guidance and training to staff, establish partnerships with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with donor policies. The PI will lead project teams, manage relationships with donors, and coordinate with other implementing partners. Additionally, the PI will oversee the induction of project staff and respond to issues arising during project implementation, including financial reporting and compliance oversight.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of project management theories, concepts, and practices. Excellent project management skills, along with strong oral and written communication abilities, are essential. The PI should demonstrate strong influencing, negotiation, and consultative skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. The ability to motivate and collaborate with others, build positive relationships with local communities and government officials, and navigate complex project environments is crucial.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Health, Public Health, Clinical Diagnostics, or a related field is required. A Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a formal understanding of project management principles and practices.
Experience: Typically, candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in project management, including a minimum of 5 years in line management with USG-funded awards. Experience working with U.S. Government agencies, international donors, and managing sub-recipients is essential. The PI should have strong direct experience in global health security and demonstrated experience in managing complex, multi-sector projects that are strategic in nature and have national or international scope.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language proficiently. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may require travel of 10% to 25%. The expected salary range for this role in the United States is between USD 110,000 and 140,000 annually, depending on experience and education.
