Job Overview: The position of Especialista Pedagógico del Proyecto UNESCO-Quellaveco-REIMAGINA is focused on providing technical assistance and support to the educational community for the transformation of educational institutions involved in the UNESCO-Quellaveco-REIMAGINA Project in Moquegua, Peru. The role is crucial in improving student learning outcomes, particularly in rural primary schools with multi-grade classrooms. The specialist will be responsible for planning and coordinating programmatic activities, conducting diagnostic visits to assigned educational institutions, and developing tailored technical assistance plans based on the needs identified. The position requires regular interaction with school leadership and teaching staff to foster collaboration and enhance educational practices. The specialist will also facilitate the implementation of innovative learning methodologies that enrich academic experiences and contribute to the socio-emotional and digital skills development of students, thereby supporting community development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programmatic Planning and Coordination: Conduct diagnostic visits to assigned educational institutions, considering project components, learning levels, student well-being, technological appropriation, and partnership management. Develop a technical assistance plan for each institution based on the diagnosis and project programming. Ensure weekly visits to each assigned school. Prepare presentations for the educational community detailing the interventions planned for the institutions. Support school leadership teams in strengthening leadership and collaboration among teaching staff. Facilitate partnerships with other organizations to enhance the educational projects developed under the project framework. Ensure that learning projects address real community problems and are linked to identified territorial challenges. Encourage teachers and school leaders to present their transformation experiences in local and national innovation competitions.
Pedagogical Advisory: Support school leadership and teaching teams in transforming schools through the implementation of the project, promoting competency-based learning and active methodologies. Provide pedagogical routes and strategies based on identified needs, fostering innovative ideas for change. Develop and evaluate collective training actions, both in-person and virtual, to strengthen the professional competencies of educational stakeholders. Guide and assist school directors and teaching staff in developing educational projects using active learning methodologies. Ensure that teaching teams develop student projects aligned with territorial challenges, becoming innovation nodes in their communities.
Reporting: Consolidate and organize information on project progress for monthly and quarterly reports. Analyze advancements using action-research methodology to meet educational project objectives. Prepare monthly reports on project implementation progress and maintain systematic records of school visits and activities. Prepare a final report detailing the activities carried out, including an analysis of the implementation of learning principles and recommendations for future interventions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field such as anthropology, sociology, or social sciences. A specialization in communication, language and literature, mathematics, science and technology, biology, or social sciences is desirable. Postgraduate studies in education or related fields are also preferred. Candidates should have over 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in teaching within public or private educational institutions and 5 years in educational projects as an advisor or technical assistant. Experience in at least two multigrade primary education projects and familiarity with educational innovation and community engagement is highly desirable.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with a preference for those who have specialized training in areas such as communication, language, mathematics, or sciences. Postgraduate education in education or social sciences is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in teaching roles within educational institutions. Additionally, candidates should have 5 years of experience in educational projects, particularly in advisory or technical support roles. Experience in managing educational networks and community engagement in educational projects is also beneficial, as is familiarity with the use of technology in education.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of instruction and communication within the project. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the communities served by the project.
Additional Notes: The consultancy will be based in the Moquegua region, and candidates must either reside in the rural areas of the assigned schools or be willing to relocate. The contract duration is 11 months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The position does not include medical coverage or expectations for renewal or conversion to another contract type.
