Job Overview: The position of Asesor/a para el Cambio is focused on providing technical assistance to prioritized educational institutions in the Moquegua region of Peru, as part of the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina project. This project aims to improve the learning experiences of 12,000 schoolchildren by promoting innovative methodologies that enhance academic experiences, life projects, and socio-emotional and digital skills. The role involves strengthening democratic school coexistence and the socio-emotional well-being of the educational community, with a particular emphasis on preventing and addressing violence, especially against girls and adolescents. The consultant will work under the authority of the head of the UNESCO office and the direct supervision of the Education Coordinator, contributing to the implementation of activities and projects aligned with UNESCO's educational sector goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asesor/a para el Cambio will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Preparing a detailed work plan for the development of project activities, including methodology, implementation strategy, and timeline.
Updating the diagnosis of targeted educational institutions, analyzing socio-emotional needs, school coexistence conditions, and violence situations, while coordinating the application of tools for collecting information on socio-emotional skills and risk factors.
Developing a technical assistance plan for each assigned educational institution based on the diagnosis and project programming.
Creating a presentation for the educational community detailing the intervention in the assigned institutions, including a timeline and monitoring instruments.
Collaborating with school leaders and teachers to implement socio-emotional skills development proposals and promote student participation and coexistence. The consultant will also ensure effective implementation of activities and manage the project timeline through the delivery of various products and reports at specified intervals throughout the contract duration.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree in psychology, psychiatry, social sciences, or similar fields. Additional studies in gender, human rights, and child protection are desirable. Specialization in bullying, school violence, and child protection is also preferred. The role requires a strong understanding of socio-emotional well-being and the ability to implement strategies that promote safe and supportive educational environments.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as psychology, social sciences, or education. Additional qualifications in areas related to child protection, human rights, and gender studies are considered advantageous. Specialized training in topics such as bullying, school violence, and socio-emotional learning is also beneficial for candidates.
Experience: Candidates should have over 8 years of general professional experience in either the public or private sector. A minimum of 3 years of experience in projects related to socio-emotional support, violence prevention, or promoting school coexistence is required. Additionally, at least 4 years of experience in educational institutions leading initiatives for socio-emotional well-being and violence prevention is essential. Experience in facilitating workshops on socio-emotional skills or emotional education with students and adults is also necessary, along with participation in multiple educational or social projects as an advisor or consultant.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory as it is the native language of the region. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position will last for eleven months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The role does not include expectations for renewal or conversion to another type of contract, nor does it provide coverage for medical services. Candidates must reside in Moquegua or be willing to relocate during the consultancy period. Travel availability is required, and travel costs will be covered by the project according to UNESCO's internal regulations.
