Job Overview:
The position of Asesor/a para el Cambio is focused on providing technical assistance and pedagogical support to school leaders and teachers in prioritized educational institutions in the Moquegua region of Peru. This role is part of the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina project, which aims to enhance the learning outcomes of 12,000 students by promoting innovative methodologies that enrich academic experiences and develop socio-emotional and digital skills. The consultant will be responsible for conducting diagnostic visits to assigned educational institutions, developing tailored technical assistance plans, and coordinating with educational advisors to ensure effective implementation of the project. The overarching goal is to improve student learning outcomes and support the educational transformation in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asesor/a para el Cambio will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Conducting diagnostic visits to assigned educational institutions to assess learning levels, student well-being, technological integration, and partnership management.
  • Developing a technical assistance plan for each institution based on the diagnostic assessment, school transformation plan, and project programming.
  • Creating presentations for the educational community detailing the interventions planned for the assigned institutions, including timelines and monitoring tools.
  • Coordinating and guiding educational advisors to ensure their activities align with the technical assistance provided.
  • Supporting school leadership teams to strengthen leadership and collaboration among educational staff based on identified challenges.
  • Ensuring the effective implementation of project activities and managing timelines through the preparation of various deliverables, including reports and presentations at specified intervals throughout the project duration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in Education or a related field such as anthropology, sociology, or social sciences. A specialization in communication, language and literature, mathematics, science and technology, biology, or social sciences is desirable. Postgraduate studies in education or related fields are also preferred. Additionally, candidates should have over 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in teaching roles within public or private educational institutions, and 5 years of experience in educational projects as an advisor, monitor, or technical assistant. Experience in managing educational networks and community engagement in educational projects is essential, as well as familiarity with technology use in education.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Candidates with a teaching license or those who have specialized in areas such as communication, mathematics, or sciences are preferred. Furthermore, postgraduate qualifications in education or social sciences are desirable, enhancing the candidate's expertise in the field.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have significant professional experience, specifically over 8 years in the education sector. This includes at least 5 years of direct teaching experience in educational institutions and 5 years of involvement in educational projects, particularly in roles that involve pedagogical support, monitoring, or technical assistance. Experience in managing educational initiatives and working with diverse educational stakeholders is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory as it is the native language of the region. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is non-staff and will last between 7 to 11 months, depending on budget availability and performance evaluation. The role requires the consultant to reside in Moquegua or be willing to travel during the consultancy period. Travel costs will be covered by the project, adhering to UNESCO's internal regulations. The position does not include medical coverage or expectations for contract renewal or conversion to a different type of contract.
