Job Overview:
The Area logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager will play a crucial role in the launch of logistics operations in Darfur, specifically focusing on storage, transportation, and capacity-building activities. This position reports to the Atlas Operations Manager and is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of logistics resources within the Area of Responsibility. The Area Logistics Manager will lead and coordinate all logistics operations to support the launch phase of Atlas Logistique operations. This role is vital in ensuring that all logistics teams are fully supported, equipped, and able to deploy safely and efficiently while adhering to HI's standard processes. The Area Logistics Manager will also ensure uninterrupted operational readiness in a complex, high-risk, and resource-restricted context, which includes the establishment of a new office and guesthouses in North Darfur - Tawila.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Area Logistics Manager's responsibilities include:
  • Management: Acting as a role model by embodying HI's values of humanity, inclusion, commitment, and integrity.
  • Coaching: Understanding the organizational strategy, translating it into operational objectives for the team, and leading necessary changes.
  • Operational Management: Organizing the operational management of the team, structuring work around identified processes, steering performance, and facilitating problem resolution.
  • Human Resources: Contributing to staff development, ensuring compliance with the code of conduct, and fostering a professional environment.
  • Steering: Contributing to the Operational Strategy for the Area of Responsibility (AoR) and implementing it, developing and monitoring Action Plans, and engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Professional Channel: Ensuring team structure and resources align with operational needs, leading recruitment and performance management.
  • Standards Deployment: Implementing HI standards and emergency preparedness measures within the AoR.
  • Risk Management: Maintaining a risk analysis matrix, executing mitigation measures, and ensuring compliance with internal rules and donor regulations.
  • Crosscutting: Overseeing supply chain management, facilities management, and budget holding.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a degree in logistics or supply chain management. They should have at least 3 years of experience in managing humanitarian logistics and a minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency responses in conflict-affected countries. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, with excellent communication and negotiation abilities in English. They should be capable of managing stress and working effectively under pressure, as well as handling conflicts. A high capacity for analysis and synthesis, along with proven experience in training and local capacity building, is also required.

Educational Background:
A degree in logistics or supply chain management is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for effective logistics management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian logistics management, with at least 2 years specifically in emergency response situations within conflict-affected countries. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the complexities and challenges faced in such environments and for effectively managing logistics operations.

Languages:

Additional Notes:
The position is an unaccompanied international contract lasting for 3 months, starting in January 2026, based in Tawila, North Darfur. The contract includes various benefits such as unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution, repatriation insurance, and a gross monthly salary starting from 2750 € based on experience. Additional compensation includes a net monthly per diem of 738 € and a hardship allowance of 500 € net per month. Employees are entitled to 25 paid leave days per year and a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 8 weeks. Housing will be provided collectively by HI, and local packages will be available for residents.
