This position involves leading the logistics team and ensuring that all logistics and procurement activities align with NRC’s policies and donor requirements. The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for implementing NRC’s systems and procedures at the area level, ensuring adherence to national labor laws, and managing the logistics team effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to support program/project implementation teams and to ensure a cost-effective supply chain that meets the needs of the organization’s interventions in Shelter, Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Protection from Violence, Education, and emergency response through cash assistance. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate logistics and procurement operations, manage transport and fuel, and oversee asset management, ensuring that all processes are transparent and efficient.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: implementing NRC’s logistics systems and procedures at the area level; ensuring compliance with NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements; preparing and submitting reports and analyses; managing the logistics team and ensuring effective communication within and among departments; coordinating procurement activities and ensuring that procurement plans are in place; preparing requests for quotations and sourcing bids in accordance with NRC procurement regulations; overseeing transport and fuel management, including contract management; ensuring regular logistics and fleet reports are submitted; managing NRC assets in accordance with regulations; conducting regular inventory checks; participating in budget development for logistics; and supervising and appraising the work of logistics staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the NGO sector is required, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. The ideal candidate should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and a strong understanding of logistics operations in complex and volatile environments. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, along with fluency in Ukrainian and Russian. Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and people management skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a high level of organizational efficiency.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and for effectively managing procurement and supply chain processes within the humanitarian context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the NGO sector, specifically in logistics coordination within humanitarian or recovery contexts. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing logistics operations, demonstrating their ability to work effectively in complex and volatile environments. Experience in managing teams and coordinating with various stakeholders is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Additionally, fluency in Ukrainian and Russian is required, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the local context and with various stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is open to candidates who have the legal right to work in Ukraine. Please note that NRC is unable to provide work permits or visa sponsorships for this role. The Logistics Coordinator will be expected to work full-time and will play a senior role within the logistics team at the area level, contributing significantly to the establishment and operational success of the new Area Office in Kharkiv.
