Job Overview: The Camp Coordination and Camp Management Officer position is primarily focused on the day-to-day implementation of the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and protection from violence project. The officer will be responsible for ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines while implementing the delegated project portfolio according to the established plan of action. This role requires the preparation and development of status reports as required by management, ensuring proper documentation and filing of project-related documents. The officer will also monitor the beneficiary selection process to ensure accountability and transparency, while promoting technical improvements and suggesting capacity-building measures for the Camp Management and Protection field team. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable beneficiaries, ensuring that the projects effectively target those in need of protection and assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities: The officer will lead the implementation of various components of protection monitoring, case identification, and referrals according to established tools, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and the annual work plan in Gederaf. Responsibilities include conducting regular visits to settlements to engage in focus group discussions, observations, and quantitative surveys to inform protection monitoring efforts. During field visits, the officer will identify protection cases, provide referrals, and follow up on these referrals to ensure beneficiaries receive the necessary support. The officer will coordinate with relevant partners in camps, facilitating regular coordination mechanisms with service providers and community structures. Additionally, the officer will oversee community sensitization, awareness, and mobilization activities to enhance information sharing and community participation. The distribution process will also be led by the officer, ensuring beneficiaries receive their entitlements, including assistance for new arrivals. The officer will actively participate in emergency and regular needs assessments, service monitoring exercises, and ensure timely reporting of assessments, distributions, and camp-related reports. Supervising, training, and developing Technical Assistants reporting to the officer is also a key responsibility, along with supporting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities in the field location. The officer will assist the Camp Management ProjectCoordinator in documenting lessons learned and capturing program performance, as well as representing NRC in coordination meetings with local authorities and NGOs in Gederaf. In case of need, the officer may also fill in as a protection assistant.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess 2-3 years of experience working in protection, camp management, WASH, or shelter programs within a humanitarian or recovery context. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is essential, along with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. A strong knowledge of the English language, Arabic, and other local languages is required. Candidates should demonstrate political and cultural awareness, as well as a good understanding of the displacement context. The position requires a university degree or a technical school degree in social sciences, such as education, political science, international relations, law, journalism, gender studies, or human rights.
