Job Overview:
The National UN Youth Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist and receive technical guidance from the Planning & Monitoring Specialist. This role involves providing technical support in program planning and monitoring, assisting in the development and review of work plans, and ensuring effective data collection and analysis. The volunteer will conduct field visits to monitor program implementation, compile data for reporting, and support the performance monitoring of Third-Party Monitoring Facilitators. Additionally, the volunteer will assist in humanitarian response efforts, information management, capacity building, and governance support, contributing to UNICEF's mission of promoting child rights and welfare in Sudan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National UN Youth Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Programme Planning and Monitoring: Providing technical support in developing and reviewing work plans, emergency preparedness, and response plans; assisting in designing monitoring tools; conducting field visits to monitor program implementation; collecting and analyzing data for key program indicators; and supporting the performance monitoring of Third-Party Monitoring Facilitators.
  • Humanitarian Response and Emergency Preparedness: Assisting in gathering critical information on populations affected by emergencies; participating in assessment missions; and monitoring high-frequency humanitarian indicators.
  • Information Management and Coordination: Supporting overall office coordination, organizing meetings, collecting and analyzing program activity data, and ensuring data disaggregation for effective reporting.
  • Capacity Building and Technical Support: Organizing training sessions for UNICEF staff and partners on PM&E tools.
  • Governance Support: Facilitating dialogue between UNICEF and government counterparts; organizing and documenting meetings and consultations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Providing general assistance to the Planning and Monitoring team and representing UNICEF in various discussions and events.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, teamwork, commitment to continuous learning, effective planning and organizing skills, strong communication abilities, and flexibility. They should possess a genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UNICEF's mission and vision. The role requires the ability to manage information confidentially, establish effective partnerships, and adapt to changes in the work environment.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in social sciences, international development, public health, or a related field. Candidates should have a solid understanding of UNICEF's operations and the context in which it operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience in program planning, monitoring, or evaluation, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with children or in child-focused initiatives is highly desirable. Familiarity with data collection and analysis methodologies is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Additional languages may be beneficial but are not required.
