Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in strengthening and streamlining UNICEF's outbreak response capacity, particularly in relation to the mpox outbreak. This position involves developing a comprehensive knowledge management framework that consolidates existing tools and resources, creating standardized operational templates, and ensuring that lessons learned from the mpox response are translated into practical guidance for future outbreaks. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Senior Manager of the Polio/HEPI Unit at the Vaccine Centre, contributing to the establishment of a global mpox stockpile and supporting ongoing tendering processes. The expected outcomes include a cohesive repository of tools and templates, simplified operational databases, and strengthened alignment between UNICEF divisions and partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management Framework Development: Map existing mpox tools and consolidate them into a structured repository. Develop operational manuals and a strategic reference library for outbreak responses.
Tool and Template Optimization: Refine operational databases based on lessons learned, develop user manuals, and ensure interoperability between KM tools and UNICEF’s internal systems.
Process Review and Documentation: Document key mpox response workflows, capture lessons learned, and prepare guidance documents.
Procurement and Tender Support: Review offers, prepare evaluation reports, and finalize the tender for the mpox global stockpile.
Completion of Work Products: Finalize the KM repository, create guidance notes, and develop standardized templates and process maps. All deliverables are expected to be completed by 30.06.2026.
Required Qualifications: Minimum requirements include a University Degree in business administration, finance, procurement, or a related field. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in procurement, data systems, or health emergencycoordination, with a preference for experience in global health organizations such as UNICEF, WHO, or Gavi. Strong writing and documentation skills in English are essential, along with the ability to structure and streamline complex datasets and workflows.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a University Degree in business administration, finance, procurement, or any related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of procurement and health emergency coordination.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, data systems, or health emergency coordination. Experience with global health organizations is preferred, indicating a need for familiarity with international health frameworks and practices.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, or a local language, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
