Job Overview:
The Shelter and Settlements Sector Co-coordinator will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the Shelter sector's response in Lebanon. This position requires a strong commitment to representing the interests of all partners within the Shelter sector, ensuring that the sector's collective voice is heard in various forums. The co-coordinator will dedicate 60% of their time to shelter-specific responsibilities and 40% to NRC's shelter and settlements program. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating national and sub-national meetings, resource mobilization, and the development and implementation of strategies that enhance the effectiveness of the shelter response. The role also involves ensuring compliance with NRC's policies and guidelines, fostering partnerships, and promoting best practices across the sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Shelter and Settlements Sector Co-coordinator include convening and co-facilitating relevant meetings, ensuring that sector meetings are well-managed and results-oriented, and representing the sector in various coordination fora. The co-coordinator will maintain dialogue with sector partners, identify external stakeholders, and support outreach to non-participating national NGOs. Monitoring sectoral funding gaps, facilitating advocacy messages, and collaborating on the overall sector strategy are also key responsibilities. The co-coordinator will support the development of cross-cutting themes, ensure that the sector addresses the needs of vulnerable populations, and promote participatory approaches in planning and implementation. Additionally, the role involves facilitating information sharing, contingency planning, and analyzing lessons learned to improve sector responses.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, or other relevant fields. A minimum of three years of experience in the shelter and settlements sector within humanitarian or development contexts is required. Previous experience in cluster and/or sector coordination is highly desired. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to contribute to complex analysis, strategy, and planning, as well as an understanding of international humanitarian response mechanisms. Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as architecture, engineering, or urban planning. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of shelter interventions and for effectively coordinating with various stakeholders in the sector.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the shelter and settlements sector, particularly in humanitarian or development settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in coordination roles, demonstrating their ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and contribute to effective program implementation.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and communities.

This position is not a budget holder and does not have direct reports.
