Job Overview:
The Construction Supervision Support position is crucial for the successful execution of the Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Program (RBWRP), which is funded by the European Union. The role involves providing technical support and ensuring that project activities are executed in a timely manner while adhering to international standards for rural infrastructure development. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials and FAO colleagues, to enhance food security and improve agricultural practices in Pakistan, particularly in disaster-affected areas. The position requires a strong analytical and quantitative capacity to contribute effectively to the program's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Construction Supervision Support include supervising field construction at various sites, ensuring compliance with construction standards, and maintaining quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the construction of karezes, springs, and water harvesting schemes, ensuring the use of approved materials, and conducting periodic testing of construction materials. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with government field supervisors, conducting field visits to monitor progress, ensuring safety standards are met, and advising on contractual disputes. The candidate will also assist in preparing progress reports and organizing workshops on contract management challenges.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Construction Management. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in disaster-hit areas and emergency programs is desirable. The candidate should have a working knowledge of English and the local languages of Balochistan, and must be a national of Pakistan. FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships are essential, along with technical skills in civil works and project management.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management. Candidates must have their qualifications recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED), ensuring that their educational credentials meet international standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in field positions within disaster-affected areas. Experience in project management, planning, and implementation of construction and infrastructure design projects is essential. Candidates should also have experience working with international and donor organizations, particularly in participatory project implementation.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory, along with proficiency in the local languages of Balochistan. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders.
