The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Security Associate and will be responsible for a variety of security-related processes and activities. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks, as well as the ability to analyze and report on security threats that could impact WFP operations. The Security Assistant will play a key role in coordinating with local authorities and other stakeholders to facilitate safe program delivery, ensuring that security measures are effectively implemented and adhered to. The position also involves conducting regular security assessments, preparing detailed reports, and providing recommendations for risk management. The Security Assistant will contribute to the development of emergency and contingency plans, ensuring that WFP is prepared for any potential crises. Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in reviewing security threats and risks, compiling accurate reports on trends and situations that could adversely impact WFP operations to ensure information is accurately collated to support reporting and decision-making.
Review security-related information (e.g., security incidents and events, security support to daily activities, etc.) and use corporate or local information management tools to provide basic analyses and reports to ensure information is readily available for relevant stakeholders.
Liaise and coordinate with local administration, security and law enforcement authorities, communities, UN/NGO security staff, and other actors to facilitate access for safe programme delivery and to mitigate potential risks against staff and other resources.
Assist in planning, coordinating, preparing, and conducting field missions including tracking of staff, and perform regular security assessments in the area of responsibility to support safe and effective programme delivery.
Prepare detailed security assessment reports after field missions with risk mitigation recommendations to support security situation analysis and facilitate decision-making.
Assist in the formulation of advice to Head Provincial Office and director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director on security risk management matters and safety issues in compliance with the United NationsSecurity Management System (UNSMS).
Assist in management and maintenance of security equipment and identify new requirements to strengthen technology capacity in line with business requirements.
Monitor that all access control procedures are effective and stringently followed by all staff and visitors to ensure accountability and maintenance of a safe and secure environment.
Contribute to the development and update of emergency and contingency planning documentation including physical preparations and procedures to support preparedness for a crisis. 1
Assist in identification of security training needs to support training planning and implementation to address staff development needs. 1
Attend and summarize the security cell and the Area Security Management Team (ASMT) meetings and advise the head of PO and head of security on the security decisions and discussion points at the meetings. 1
Conduct regular visits to WFP warehouses to ensure security compliance including regular fire inspections as per the SRM. 1
Update the security unit annual work plan, security plan, and maintain effective security briefing for new staff and field missions. 1
Maintain proper records of the security documents including regular updates of the security share folder. 1
Submit mandatory reports including flash reports, weekly reports, STARS reports, and daily staff headcount and mission tracking. 1
Perform any other task within the job expertise as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor's) in Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International Relations, Commercial Law, or a related field with a focus on security management. A Bachelor's degree from a police academy or military college is highly desirable. Additionally, completion of secondary school education with a post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is required. All educational documents must be verified/attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a first-level university degree (Bachelor's) in relevant fields such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International Relations, or Commercial Law, with a focus on security management being advantageous. A background in security, military, or police experience is desirable. The role requires specialized knowledge of practical methods, techniques, procedures, and systems used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience. Candidates should also have experience and training in fire response and related intervention and evacuation procedures.
Languages: Fluency in English and Urdu is required for this position. Knowledge of other local languages is considered an added advantage, enhancing communication and coordination with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a Service Contract with a duration of 12 months, specifically for Pakistan Nationals only.
