Job Overview:
The Communication Officer position is integral to UNICEF’s Supply Division, specifically within the Communications Team. This role is focused on transforming market intelligence into accessible and impactful communication products for diverse global audiences. The officer will bridge the gap between technical supply chain data and user-friendly formats, playing a critical role in the planning, creation, and delivery of market communication products. The incumbent will work under the strategic direction of the Communications Manager, ensuring that all communication outputs are aligned with UNICEF’s branding and accessibility standards. This position requires a proactive approach to content development, data visualization, and audience engagement, ensuring that UNICEF’s market communication effectively informs and engages partners, donors, and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: supporting the content development and updating of Market Notes and related materials; coordinating with procurement centers and technical teams to ensure data inputs are current and aligned with communication standards; leading the design and maintenance of data visualization products such as web-based pricing interfaces and infographics; assisting in drafting and formatting briefs, presentations, and reports; collecting and analyzing audience insights to inform content development; coordinating the dissemination of market communication products; ensuring compliance with UNICEF branding and editorial standards; maintaining a repository of templates and design resources; and providing operational support to the communication workstream. The officer may also engage in activities that promote volunteerism and community engagement as part of their role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of operations relevant to UNICEF, possess technical capabilities or knowledge transferable to UNICEF procedures, and exhibit discretion and political sensitivity. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to ethical standards. Candidates should also have a proven ability to manage information confidentially and accurately, and be responsive and client-oriented. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement and UNICEF’s mission is essential.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a strong foundation in communication strategies and tools, as well as experience in data visualization and content development.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or a related field. Experience working in international organizations or with UN agencies is highly desirable. Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques, as well as experience in content development and audience engagement, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of additional UN languages, such as French or Spanish, is considered an asset and will enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
This is an International UN Volunteer assignment, and the selected candidate will be responsible for organizing their own living arrangements. The position is full-time, and the volunteer will receive a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover basic living expenses. The VLA includes a Monthly Living Allowance, an Accommodation Supplement, and other benefits such as medical insurance and leave entitlements. The role may require travel and adaptability to various working conditions.
