Job Overview: The Principal Investment Officer (PIO) position within the Global Energy (CEMEN) team at IFC is a pivotal role that focuses on leading sector strategy and expertise in energy. The PIO will be responsible for guiding investment teams and management in business development, project structuring, and execution, particularly in the midstream and downstream natural gas sectors, as well as potentially in renewable energy sectors such as solar and wind. This role requires a strategic mindset to develop and implement IFC's value proposition and global business strategy in energy sectors. The PIO will also engage in client relationship management, knowledge sharing, and industry trend monitoring, ensuring that IFC remains at the forefront of energy sector innovation and market creation. The position demands a collaborative approach, working closely with senior management, other World Bank Group units, and external stakeholders to drive energy sector strategies and initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal Investment Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading investment strategies for various energy sectors, particularly midstream and downstream natural gas; supporting investment teams in project structuring and execution; developing and implementing IFC's global business strategy in energy; managing client relationships for key global energy clients; facilitating knowledge management and sharing across regional sector groups; monitoring industry trends and participating in relevant events; leading World Bank Group initiatives related to the energy sector; mentoring junior staff and contributing to their professional development; and collaborating with senior management and external stakeholders to implement energy sector strategies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Principal Investment Officer position must possess a Master's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Additionally, they should have at least 12 years of relevant experience, with significant expertise in the energy sector, particularly in midstream and downstream gas. A proven track record in developing and implementing power sector business strategies, as well as experience in project development, structuring, and portfolio management of power sector transactions in developing countries, is essential. Familiarity with various financial products, including project finance and equity, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for the Principal Investment Officer position is a Master's degree in finance, economics, or a similar relevant field.
