Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position is integral to the UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS), providing support to the Strategic Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Partnerships teams, the Programme Support and Management Unit (PSMU), and the Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) specialists. The role involves contributing to the development and implementation of effective programs that align with UN Women’s strategic goals. The Programme Associate will assist in research, financial management, and program implementation, ensuring compliance with UN Women rules and regulations. This position requires advanced administrative, logistical, and coordination support for program formulation and management, as well as financial oversight and resource mobilization efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing advanced administrative support in the preparation of program work plans, budgets, and proposals; offering technical guidance to country offices on program delivery and reporting; developing comprehensive matrices for programming priorities in the Arab States Region; coordinating the Regional Project Appraisal Committee (RPAC) Secretariat; supporting annual management reviews and audits; conducting research and compiling data for various documents; managing financial aspects of program units, including budget revisions and financial monitoring; overseeing logistical arrangements for meetings and events; and facilitating knowledge sharing and training for office staff and partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of program management, excellent financial and budgeting skills, and the ability to synthesize and present information clearly. They should be adept at managing data, documents, and workflows, and have experience in administering and executing administrative processes. Proficiency in IT and the use of office software packages is essential, along with the ability to provide input for business process improvements and new data management systems.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration considered an asset. This educational background supports the administrative and program management functions of the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or program management/support. Experience in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is required, as is experience in supporting a team. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable, along with experience working within the UN system.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, ensuring effective communication within the diverse environment of UN Women and its stakeholders.
