Job Overview: The Supply and Logistics Associate at UNICEF plays a crucial role in managing complex supply chains and client requests. This position requires advanced specialized knowledge and is characterized by a high degree of independence. The Associate will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain management, contributing to the design and development of improved supply chain services. Key functions include planning, procurement, in-country logistics, warehousing, and inventory management, all aimed at ensuring effective delivery of program supplies and services. Duties and Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Service Delivery and Response: Involves planning and advising on supply requirements, supporting emergency preparedness, and participating in the evaluation of supply chain operations.
Procurement/Contracting: Includes conducting market research, advising on procurement strategies, managing procurement requisitions, and ensuring ethical standards in procurement processes.
In-Country Logistics: Advises on logistics input to supply plans, monitors procurement progress, and manages logistics operations.
Warehousing and Inventory Management: Manages warehouse operations, assesses capacity, supervises stock management, and prepares inventory reports.
Alternative Delivery Mechanisms: Supports collaboration with implementing partners and monitors supply components under various agreements. The Associate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation for all supply chain activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field may substitute for three years of experience, while a master's degree may replace an additional two years. Understanding of development and humanitarian work is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required. A bachelor's degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field is preferred and may substitute for work experience. A master's degree is also beneficial and can further reduce the required years of experience.
Experience: The position requires at least 6 years of relevant experience in supply chain management or a related field. Candidates with a bachelor's degree may have a reduced experience requirement, while those with a master's degree may have an even further reduced requirement. Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language such as Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
