Job Overview: The Health Officer (NO-2) position is embedded within the Center Area Field Office in Khartoum, Sudan, and is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Health Programme within the Country Programme. The incumbent will provide technical, operational, and administrative support across all stages of the programme cycle, focusing on public health emergencies, immunization, and revitalizing primary health care services in Khartoum State. The role involves conducting assessments, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health initiatives to ensure effective delivery and tangible results that align with UNICEF's strategic priorities and improve health outcomes for children and communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support programme development and planning by conducting situation analyses, researching development trends, and contributing to the establishment of sectoral programme goals and strategies.
Manage programme implementation by collaborating with colleagues and partners, monitoring resource use, and preparing reports for management and stakeholders.
Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners, ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies and best practices.
Build partnerships with health sector stakeholders, draft communication materials for advocacy, and prepare resource mobilization materials.
Identify and share lessons learned, assist with research oversight, and participate in capacity-building initiatives to enhance stakeholder competencies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or a relevant technical field. A minimum of two years of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness is required. Experience in public health emergency programming and delivery is also essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in relevant fields such as public health, nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, or epidemiology. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of health programming and emergency response.
Experience: The role requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in areas such as public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness. Candidates should have experience in public health emergency programming and delivery, which is critical for effectively managing health initiatives in crisis situations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
