The Compliance and CBI Unit specifically ensures adherence to IOM's rules, regulations, and policies, addressing compliance-related issues through systematic reporting and proactive management reviews.
Job Overview: The Compliance and CBI Officer position is crucial for ensuring that the IOM adheres to its internal governance and compliance standards. The officer will work closely with the Program Associate and other relevant units to collect, verify, and analyze data related to Cash Based Interventions (CBI). This role involves maintaining data repositories, supporting the development of reports, and monitoring operational, administrative, and financial aspects of CBI projects. The officer will also play a key role in ensuring that cash distributions are documented properly and that measures are in place to prevent fraud and inefficiency. The position requires a proactive approach to managing compliance and risk, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Program Associate to gather, check, and compile data from various working groups, units, and departments, ensuring the maintenance of relevant data repositories.
Support the collection, verification, and analysis of data and background information, updating the Cash Based Interventions (CBI) Requests Tracking Sheet as necessary.
Assist in the development of periodic reports and statistical information relevant to donor-specific mandates, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Coordinate and monitor the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of CBI in accordance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
Ensure that cash distributions are properly documented and that appropriate measures are taken to prevent fraud, inefficiency, and abuse.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Compliance and CBI Unit.
Required Qualifications:
Strong interest in Cash Based Interventions (CBI) and a commitment to humanitarian principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage data meticulously and with attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex data sets.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English; knowledge of Dari or Pashto is considered an advantage.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, demonstrating motivation and a willingness to learn.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, international relations, or a related discipline is preferred. Additional training or certifications related to compliance, data management, or humanitarian assistance would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in compliance, data management, or humanitarian assistance. Experience working with international organizations or in a similar role within the humanitarian sector is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both oral and written. Knowledge of Dari or Pashto is considered a strong advantage, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Kabul, Afghanistan, and may require occasional travel within the country. The role is full-time, and candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
