UNRWA operates in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, focusing on helping these refugees achieve their full potential in human development while awaiting a just resolution to their situation. Job Overview: The Materiel Inspector position is crucial within UNRWA's logistics framework, reporting directly to the Senior Logistics Officer. The incumbent is responsible for supervising General Services or equivalent Area post staff, ensuring that all goods and supplies delivered to the Agency’s warehouses meet the required quality and quantity standards. This role involves inspecting deliveries, managing stock levels, and ensuring compliance with safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security standards. The Materiel Inspector will also be responsible for preparing compliance reports, managing stock checks, and overseeing the disposal of obsolete or defective supplies. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with suppliers and end users to resolve any issues that may arise during the inspection and delivery processes. The role is integral to maintaining the integrity of UNRWA's supply chain and ensuring that the agency can effectively serve the needs of Palestine refugees.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Materiel Inspector will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: inspecting all goods and supplies delivered to the Agency’s warehouses, ensuring they meet quality and quantity specifications; posting inspection results and adjustments into the ERP system; certifying invoices and shipping documents for payment; controlling surpluses and defective supplies; coordinating with procurement and port operations for replacements or claims; preparing compliance reports; managing quarterly stock takes; monitoring stock expiration dates; conducting random inspections of cargo; ensuring compliance with safety and security standards; managing fuel consumption and stock control; overseeing the appropriate write-off and disposal of supplies; and preparing reports related to these functions. The Materiel Inspector will also perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in quality assurance, inventory or audit management, business administration, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have completed coursework or training in asset and inventory management. A minimum of four years of experience in supply operations or a similar field is required. Candidates must also declare any current or past affiliations with NGOs, academic institutions, or political organizations that could impact their neutrality and objectivity in performing their duties for UNRWA. Furthermore, candidates should specify their current location and any outside activities or political affiliations that may influence their ability to perform their duties.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as quality assurance, inventory or audit management, or business administration. Additional coursework or training in asset and inventory management is also necessary to ensure candidates have the requisite knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the Materiel Inspector effectively.
Experience: Candidates are required to have a minimum of four years of relevant work experience in supply operations or a similar field. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of logistics, inventory management, and quality assurance processes. Candidates must also be currently residing in the duty station, which is Amman, Jordan, and must specify their current location in their application.
Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory, with both languages required at UN Level III. This includes the ability to read, write, listen, and speak effectively in both languages. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory. Candidates should refer to the UN Language Framework for specific language skill requirements.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, with a one-year probation period. There is a possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The position is graded at Grade 14, with a monthly basic salary of JD 919.80, plus a Special Operations Allowance of 8.40%. Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution of 15.4% of the basic salary, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to two days of sick leave for each completed month of service, 14 weeks of maternity leave, and two weeks of paternity leave. Candidates must possess a valid driving license and be aware that the agency will not cover relocation costs. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates who can assist the agency in achieving gender parity.
