This position requires the advisor to provide technical leadership for community-based MNCH and nutrition programming, ensuring that all activities are implemented successfully and that workplan targets are met. The advisor will be responsible for strengthening the connections between communities, health facilities, and other partners to enhance health outcomes for mothers, newborns, and children. The role involves providing technical oversight, mentorship, and quality assurance for community-level activities, which include antenatal and postnatal care, child health initiatives, growth monitoring, nutrition screening, and household visits. The advisor will report to the Senior Technical Advisor and will work closely with various stakeholders, including community organizations and health offices, to ensure effective program delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Advisor will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and monitoring of community MNCH and nutrition interventions, ensuring they align with national priorities and the goals of the EpiC project. Key responsibilities include developing community-level strategies and tools to improve health outcomes, providing ongoing technical assistance and mentorship to partners and community health workers, overseeing the integration of MNCH and nutrition promotion within community health platforms, and strengthening community-facility linkages for effective referrals. The advisor will also monitor the availability of essential commodities, facilitate the use of community data for decision-making, guide community engagement strategies, support monitoring and evaluation efforts, and contribute to technical reports and donor deliverables. Additionally, the advisor will represent EpiC in technical meetings and coordinate with local authorities and partners to ensure alignment with national policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong technical understanding of community-based MNCH and nutrition programming, including maternal and newborn care, infant and young child feeding (IYCF), and growth monitoring. Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, mentoring, and capacity-building activities is essential. The advisor should have excellent program implementation and supervision skills, the ability to develop and adapt technical tools and guidelines, and a demonstrated capacity for analyzing program data to identify gaps and recommend solutions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for coordinating with multiple partners and working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to promoting locally led development is also required.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, or a related field is required, along with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience may be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience leading or supporting community-based MNCH and/or nutrition programs in Haiti, with demonstrated experience in antenatal and postnatal care, IYCF, and community engagement approaches.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in community-based MNCH and nutrition programs, particularly in Haiti. Candidates should have experience working with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), local NGOs, and community health systems. Prior experience with U.S. Government or other donor-funded projects is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Languages: Fluency in French and Haitian Creole is required, while proficiency in English is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for producing clear technical documents and presentations.
