Job Overview:
The individual contractor will play a crucial role in supporting the Committee's follow-up activities in Fiji, which are aimed at enhancing information sharing and raising awareness among local stakeholders regarding the Pacific Internet Exchange Point (IXP). This position involves attending monthly virtual Committee meetings, providing substantive inputs, and engaging in dialogue with local stakeholders. The contractor will also be responsible for drafting a comprehensive action plan that outlines key stakeholders in Fiji, assesses the Committee's operational modalities, and estimates financial considerations for future operations. This role is essential for promoting digital cooperation and inclusion in line with ESCAP's resolution 79/10, which focuses on the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway Initiative for the years 2022 to 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The contractor's primary duties will include:
  • Supporting the Committee by attending monthly virtual meetings and providing necessary inputs to facilitate discussions.
  • Engaging with local stakeholders in Fiji to promote the Pacific IXP and encourage their participation in the Committee.
  • Drafting a detailed action plan (maximum of 10 pages) that identifies potential key stakeholders in Fiji, including contact persons for future partnerships.
  • Assessing the Committee's future operational modalities, identifying opportunities and challenges in Fiji, and estimating financial considerations for future operations.
  • Outlining key recommendations for the Committee's next steps in Fiji based on consultations with local stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the overall goal of enhancing digital connectivity and transformation in the region through regional cooperation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a related field. They should have proven experience in the ICT or telecommunications sector, particularly within Pacific countries. Strong writing and reviewing skills for technical reports are essential, as the contractor will be required to draft and present various documents and plans.

Educational Background:
A degree in ICT or a closely related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the complexities of digital connectivity and telecommunications, particularly in the context of the Pacific region.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in the ICT or telecommunications field, specifically within the Pacific countries.
