Job Overview: The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Director of IDD and the direct supervision of the Chief of IDS. The primary function of this position is to provide timely substantive and logistical support to the project officer in planning, implementing, and reporting activities related to the KOICA-ESCAP Joint Capacity Building Training Programme on Digital Technologies for Addressing Climate Change Impact in the Pacific. Additionally, the consultant will assist in the implementation of activities related to the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative. This role is crucial for fostering regional cooperation and leveraging digital technologies to address climate change impacts effectively. The consultant will be expected to coordinate project activities, follow up on progress, and ensure that the objectives of the initiatives are met efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties and responsibilities include: 1) Providing timely support to the project officer in planning and implementing the KOICA-ESCAP Joint Capacity Building Training Programme, ensuring that all activities are executed as per the project timeline. 2) Assisting in the logistical arrangements for training sessions, workshops, and meetings related to the programme. 3) Supporting the project officer in reporting on the progress of activities, including preparing documentation and presentations for stakeholders. 4) Coordinating with various stakeholders involved in the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative to ensure effective communication and collaboration. 5) Conducting research and analysis to support the development of policies and strategies related to digital technologies and climate change. 6) Monitoring and evaluating the impact of the training programme and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a degree related to digital technologies, ICT/Telecommunications, or a related field. Candidates must possess good writing skills and have proven professional experience in research and project coordination within the ICT sector, economic development, or related fields. The ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate strong organizational skills is essential.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant degree in digital technologies, information and communication technology (ICT), telecommunications, or a closely related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the projects and initiatives the consultant will be involved in.
Experience: The consultant should have a solid background in project coordination, particularly in ICT and economic development. Experience in conducting research and providing technical assistance in similar projects is highly desirable. The role requires familiarity with digital technologies and their application in addressing climate change and sustainable development.
Languages: A good command of spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
