Job Overview: The Consortia Manager will oversee the ECHO funded Education in Emergencies Consortium, which includes partnerships with Plan International, War Child, and seven national partners. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective management and strategic direction of the consortium's programs aimed at providing safe and inclusive education for conflict-affected children in various states of Sudan. The Consortia Manager will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of educational services, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and fostering strong relationships among consortium members and stakeholders. The position requires a proactive approach to managing project implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and budget oversight, while also contributing to the strategic development of future consortium initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consortia Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Providing overall direction and leadership for the Consortium to ensure seamless operations and effective collaboration among partners.
Coordinating with consortium members to ensure high-quality implementation of activities, compliance with donor and consortium rules, and accountability to beneficiaries.
Overseeing day-to-day project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and budget management.
Representing the Consortium to relevant stakeholders, including national authorities and donors, while promoting the interests of consortium partners.
Line managing the Consortium Management Unit and conducting necessary recruitments.
Leading consultations and preparing for the next phase of the Consortium based on needs assessments and donor expectations.
Contributing to fundraising initiatives to diversify the Consortium's funding portfolio.
Monitoring consortium partners' spending and managing the consortium management unit budget.
Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and donor requirements, and guaranteeing timely and quality donor reports. 1
Facilitating the development and implementation of the Consortium's communications and advocacy strategy. 1
Cultivating positive relationships with stakeholders and ensuring participation in relevant coordination forums. 1
Developing project proposals in collaboration with consortium members and ensuring quality control of donor applications and reports.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Consortia Manager position should possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
At least 5 years of humanitarian experience across multiple contexts, with a focus on youth programs for at least 2 years.
A minimum of 3 years of project management experience, specifically managing multi-million Euro projects.
Experience in consortium management or significant involvement in a consortium with a multi-year duration.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English.
Preferred experience or knowledge of the Sudan context.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in relevant areas, preferably related to education, humanitarian studies, or project management. Advanced degrees or specialized training in these fields would be advantageous and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of humanitarian experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on youth programs. Candidates should also have a minimum of 3 years of project management experience, particularly in managing large-scale projects with multi-million Euro budgets. Experience in consortium management or significant involvement in a consortium is essential, as well as a proven track record of developing training tools and managing humanitarian projects effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic or other local languages would be considered an asset and beneficial for effective communication within the context of Sudan.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Port Sudan and offers a salary at grade 9 of NRC’s international pay scale, amounting to USD 5,18
The contract duration is for one year, with the possibility of extension. The role requires 50% travel to project sites.
