Job Overview: The MEAL Assistant, MEAL Enumerator position is crucial for supporting FAO Sudan in its mission to enhance food security and improve agricultural practices. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting and managing data related to emergency and program components, ensuring that the information gathered is accurate and complies with FAO’s Data Protection Policy. This role involves working closely with the FAO Representative and the International M&E Specialist to gather data on various activities, including beneficiary verification and post-distribution monitoring. The position requires a strong attention to detail, familiarity with digital data tools, and a commitment to ethical data handling practices. The MEAL Assistant will also be involved in conducting phone surveys and maintaining a schedule for data collection activities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of FAO's programs in Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the MEAL Assistant, MEAL Enumerator include:
Collecting data and information on the activities of each component of the FAO emergency and program components.
Assisting in compiling MEAL data for various activities, including beneficiary verification, post-distribution monitoring (PDM), post-harvest assessments, and baseline/endline studies of FAO projects.
Organizing and conducting phone-based surveys during peak periods of data collection.
Following FAO Sudan survey methodologies and existing formats for data and metadata storage.
Entering data received from interviewees and key informants into FAO Sudan databases using tools like Kobo Toolbox.
Maintaining a schedule of surveys and interviews to ensure timely completion.
Ensuring compliance with FAO Data Protection Policy during data collection and management.
Performing other related duties as required to support the FAO's mission in Sudan.
Required Qualifications: The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Economics, Rural Development, Project Management, or a similar field. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in conducting similar assignments, demonstrating their capability in data collection and analysis. Additionally, a working knowledge (Level C) of both English and Arabic is essential, as the role requires effective communication in both languages.
