Job Overview:
The position of International Consultant for Climate Risk Integration involves developing a methodological and institutional framework for integrating climate risk assessment and management into national investment and financing processes in Morocco. This role is pivotal in aligning Morocco’s financial ecosystem with its climate and sustainable development objectives. The consultant will conduct a diagnostic study, review best practices, and propose practical approaches for integrating climate risks into investment evaluations. Additionally, the consultant will design and deliver training sessions for government and financial institution representatives, ensuring that the methodology is tested through a pilot application with the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment (FM6I). The consultant will work closely with a national consultant to ensure alignment with national policies and institutions, contributing to the implementation of the Partnership for Action on a Green Economy (PAGE) in Morocco.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a comprehensive set of tasks, including: conducting a diagnostic study to assess the current integration of climate risks in Morocco’s financial ecosystem; reviewing international and national best practices relevant to climate risk integration; developing a methodological framework for systematic climate risk assessment; formulating recommendations for integrating climate considerations into investment processes; strengthening the internal capacity of the FM6I in climate risk analysis; and positioning the FM6I as a potential actor for accreditation to the UNFCCC financial mechanism. The consultant will also organize training sessions for FM6I staff on climate risk integration and ensure strict confidentiality regarding sensitive project information. The end result will include a review of good practices, a methodology for climate risk assessment, and a comprehensive climate risk integration strategy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or higher in finance, economics, social and environmental corporate responsibility, climate science, or a related field. In-depth knowledge of climate risk assessment and climate finance mechanisms is essential. Professional experience in producing relevant analysis for the financial sector, particularly for institutional investors, is desired. Experience working with governments or public financial institutions on sustainable finance, climate risk, or ESG frameworks is also preferred. The ability to translate technical financial and climate risk analysis into policy-relevant recommendations for public institutions is crucial, along with strong analytical and research skills to synthesize complex information and generate actionable insights. A commitment to the principles and goals of sustainable development is highly valued.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as finance, economics, social and environmental corporate responsibility, climate science, or a related discipline is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of the complexities involved in climate risk assessment and management.

Experience:
The position requires significant professional experience, particularly in producing analyses relevant to the financial sector and institutional investors. Experience in working with governments or public financial institutions on sustainable finance, climate risk, or ESG frameworks is highly desirable. Additionally, experience in designing and delivering customized training on climate risks is preferred, as the consultant will be responsible for training FM6I staff on these topics.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is considered a desirable asset, while knowledge of Arabic and Moroccan Berber is also beneficial, given the official languages of Morocco. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages will enhance the consultant's ability to engage with local stakeholders and ensure successful project implementation.

Additional Notes:
The position is remote and expected to last for a duration of 5 months. The consultant will not be charged any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, as the United Nations does not charge applicants for application, interview, or training processes. The consultant will have access to sensitive information regarding FM6I investment projects and must ensure strict confidentiality and non-disclosure of any project-specific data.
