Job Overview:
The position of Voluntarios/as en línea is crucial in addressing the intersection of climate change and gender issues in Venezuela. Volunteers will work under the guidance of the Economic Empowerment team at UN Women, contributing to the development of a diagnostic report on Climate Change and Gender. This role involves researching and compiling data on women's initiatives in green, circular, and orange economies over the past five years. Volunteers will map key actors, institutional priorities, and identify existing public opportunities and initiatives in these economic sectors. The work is vital as it highlights the disproportionate impacts of climate change on women and girls, who are often the most affected yet play a pivotal role in driving solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of a diagnostic document on Climate Change and Gender in Venezuela.
  • Conduct research to map existing initiatives led by women in the green, circular, and orange economies over the last five years.
  • Identify and document key stakeholders involved in these initiatives.
  • Analyze institutional priorities related to gender and climate change.
  • Identify public opportunities and initiatives that support women's economic empowerment in the context of climate change.
  • Collaborate with the Economic Empowerment team to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the information gathered.
  • Participate in regular meetings to discuss progress and findings.
  • Provide recommendations based on the research conducted.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of gender issues and climate change.
  • Familiarity with economic empowerment initiatives, particularly those led by women.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for research and communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, environmental studies, gender studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the socio-economic factors affecting women in Venezuela, particularly in relation to climate change and resource management.

Experience:
Previous experience in research, advocacy, or project management related to gender and climate change is highly desirable. Experience working with NGOs or international organizations is a plus. Volunteers should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English or other languages is considered an asset, as it may facilitate broader communication and understanding of international frameworks related to gender and climate change.
