Job Overview:
The EpiC Tajikistan MNCH/Nutrition Regional Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of maternal, newborn, child health (MNCH) and nutrition activities specifically within the Khatlon oblast of Tajikistan. This position requires a proactive individual who can work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including health administration bodies, local organizations, and the EpiC Tajikistan team. The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the MNCH/Nutrition programs are executed effectively and in compliance with both project and donor requirements. This role involves providing technical and programmatic support to project facilities, overseeing field-level activity implementation, and contributing to capacity building and documentation of best practices. The Coordinator will also facilitate communication between regional stakeholders and the national EpiC team to ensure alignment and smooth execution of interventions across the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the EpiC Tajikistan MNCH/Nutrition Regional Coordinator include:
  • Providing technical assistance for project-supported facilities and partners within the Khatlon oblast, including coordinating and delivering MNCH/Nutrition-related training and mentoring.
  • Collaborating with Khatlon oblast, district, and city health authorities and other partners to conduct MNCH/Nutrition programs, supporting planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of activities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships as the liaison for Khatlon oblast for project teams, government officials, local communities, and other organizations.
  • Offering recommendations for project improvement and technical implementation based on monitoring and evaluation of ongoing activities.
  • Collecting, reviewing, and finalizing project event reports, monthly and quarterly narrative reports, and indicators reports from partner organizations.
  • Preparing and submitting administrative and programmatic documentation, including Expense Authorizations, Purchase Requests, and Project Reports, ensuring compliance with all requirements and timelines.
  • Submitting regular progress reports and field visit reports, ensuring effective filing of documentation according to project and donor guidelines.
  • Collecting data, verifying, and submitting timely and accurate MNCH/Nutrition statistic reports.
  • Documenting and sharing project accomplishments, best practices, challenges, and lessons learned with partners and stakeholders. 1
  • Providing technical input and cross-support to other teams within the project to ensure coordinated implementation. 1
  • Participating in Bid Review Committees as assigned, ensuring transparent and compliant evaluation of bids. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the project’s overall objectives and activities.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the EpiC Tajikistan MNCH/Nutrition Regional Coordinator position include:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition, or other health-related fields, or its equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience in health project coordination within Khatlon oblast, preferably with a focus on MNCH and/or Nutrition.
  • Experience working in organizations or projects that address technical MNCH/Nutrition issues.
  • Proven experience in engaging with government officials and coordinating with stakeholders, particularly with the Department of Health and local government units, to support strategy development and implementation plans.
  • Knowledge and technical expertise in the application and implementation of MNCH/Nutrition strategies and service delivery approaches.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in Tajik and Russian is required, while fluency in English is considered an added advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 65% within Tajikistan and abroad as needed.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition, or other health-related fields. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively coordinate and implement MNCH/Nutrition activities within the Khatlon oblast. The degree should ideally be complemented by relevant coursework or training in maternal and child health, nutrition, or public health management, which would further enhance the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in health project coordination, specifically within the Khatlon oblast. This experience should preferably include a focus on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and nutrition. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in organizations or projects that address technical MNCH/Nutrition issues, demonstrating their ability to manage and coordinate health programs effectively. Experience in engaging with government officials and coordinating with various stakeholders is highly desirable, as it is crucial for supporting strategy development and implementation plans.

Languages:
Fluency in Tajik and Russian is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication with local stakeholders and partners. Additionally, fluency in English is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and enhance the candidate's ability to engage in broader discussions related to health initiatives and project implementation.

Additional Notes:
The EpiC Tajikistan MNCH/Nutrition Regional Coordinator position is a full-time role that requires a significant amount of travel, with a minimum of 65% travel expected within Tajikistan and potentially abroad. The position is open to citizens of Tajikistan or individuals who have legal authority to work in Tajikistan.
