Job Overview:
CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of IT Project Manager. This role will focus on full-cycle ERP implementations, infrastructure modernization, and organizational restructuring initiatives within the IT function, specifically within the KMIT Unit. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of ERP projects, ensuring that they align with business processes. The position will also involve overseeing infrastructure and cybersecurity projects, supporting departmental restructuring efforts, and developing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, timelines, risks, and KPIs. The successful candidate will coordinate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure integrated project delivery and will apply and enforce project governance and compliance frameworks across all initiatives. Additionally, the IT Project Manager will drive change management and communication plans to ensure the successful adoption of new systems and processes, while also mentoring and guiding team members and contractors assigned to projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Project Manager will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including leading the planning, execution, and delivery of ERP projects, particularly focusing on Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalent systems. The role requires overseeing infrastructure and cybersecurity projects, which include network upgrades, cloud migrations, and IT service improvements. The manager will support departmental restructuring efforts, ensuring that IT operations and service models align with CIMMYT’s 2030 Strategy. Responsibilities also include developing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, timelines, risks, and KPIs, and reporting progress to senior leadership. The IT Project Manager will coordinate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Science, and Operations, as well as external vendors, to ensure integrated project delivery. The role also involves applying and enforcing project governance and compliance frameworks across all initiatives, driving change management and communication plans to ensure successful adoption of new systems and processes, and mentoring team members and contractors assigned to projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree or PMP/PRINCE2 certification is preferred. The position requires 7–10 years of progressive IT project management experience, with proven delivery of at least one full-cycle ERP implementation, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 36
  • Additional experience in large-scale ERP module rollouts, upgrades, or related enterprise system projects, as well as large-scale infrastructure, network, or security projects, is essential. Experience in projects involving organizational restructuring or IT operating model transformation is also required. Strong experience in vendor and contract management is necessary, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in multicultural and international environments and exhibit competencies such as leadership, negotiation skills, effective communication, and problem-solving.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred, and certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are highly regarded. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of IT project management and the technical aspects of ERP systems and infrastructure.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 7–10 years of progressive IT project management experience. This experience should include proven delivery of at least one full-cycle ERP implementation, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics 365, as well as involvement in large-scale ERP module rollouts, upgrades, or related enterprise system projects. Additionally, candidates should have experience managing large-scale infrastructure, network, or security projects, and should have been involved in projects that require organizational restructuring or IT operating model transformation.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills required in both languages. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication within the multicultural and international environment of CIMMYT. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package and support for continuous professional development. In addition to the provisions of the Mexican Labor Law, the benefits package includes a year-end bonus equivalent to 40 days of salary, a vacation premium of 56%, life and medical insurance, supermarket coupons, a savings fund, and social benefits in accordance with Mexican regulations (IMSS, SAR / Infonavit).
