Job Overview: The Financial Analyst position at CIMMYT is designed for a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional who will work within the Finance Department. The role is based at CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting various financial functions and activities related to the GWP project portfolio. This includes assisting in the reallocation of expenditures between projects, creating journals and PRS related to supplies and services, generating reports as needed, maintaining an updated staff list in Excel, and conducting GWP analysis as requested. The position requires a proactive approach to financial management and a commitment to supporting the organization's mission through effective financial practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Supporting the reallocation of expenditure between various projects to ensure efficient use of resources.
Assisting in the creation of journals and Purchase Requisition Systems (PRS) related to supplies and services as required.
Generating financial reports and analyses as needed to support decision-making processes.
Maintaining an updated staff list in Excel to ensure accurate records of personnel involved in financial activities.
Conducting GWP analysis as requested to provide insights into project performance and financial health.
Supporting financial functions and activities related to the GWP project portfolio, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Collaborating with team members to enhance financial reporting and analysis capabilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Financial Analyst position must possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Additionally, the selected candidate must have less than a year of relevant experience in a financial role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential. The candidate should also demonstrate strong competencies in critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, customer orientation, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. This foundational knowledge is crucial for understanding financial principles and practices that will be applied in the role of Financial Analyst.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have less than a year of experience in a financial role. This entry-level experience is aimed at recent graduates or individuals who have completed internships or similar positions in finance or accounting, providing them with the necessary exposure to financial operations and practices.
Languages: English proficiency is mandatory for this position, with candidates required to score a minimum of A1 on the CEFR scale.
