Job Overview: The position of Licenciado en Nutrición is integral to the World Food Programme's efforts in Honduras, specifically within the framework of the project 'Financiación Adicional (FA) al Proyecto de Innovación para la Competitividad Rural – COMRURAL III – La Moskitia - Costa Atlántica.' This role focuses on providing technical assistance to enhance the local procurement model of the National School Feeding Programme (PNAE) and aims to support food security and nutrition in the La Moskitia region. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and facilitating educational workshops for students, teachers, and parents on topics such as healthy eating and food hygiene. The role also involves technical guidance for school feeding committees, monitoring the implementation of the PNAE, and ensuring that the nutritional needs of students are met through locally sourced food. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies and educational institutions, to develop a comprehensive training plan that aligns with national policies and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Licenciado en Nutrición will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Designing and facilitating workshops and educational activities for students, teachers, and parents on healthy eating, food hygiene, and food preparation.
Developing educational materials tailored to different target audiences.
Providing technical assistance to School Feeding Committees (CAE) in menu planning, considering nutritional requirements and local production.
Training CAE members on proper food handling, storage, and preparation techniques.
Conducting field visits to monitor the implementation of the PNAE, collecting key information on food practices, menu compliance, and community participation.
Systematizing information and preparing technical reports with recommendations.
Managing resources for training sessions, ensuring compliance with the approved budget.
Coordinating logistics for training activities involving various stakeholders.
Collaborating closely with the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), educational institutions, local authorities, and other actors to develop a joint training plan. 1
Participating in community-level awareness and training activities. 1
Preparing monthly activity reports, photographic records, and evaluation documents for workshops. 1
Submitting a final report that includes impact analysis, lessons learned, and recommendations for improving nutritional interventions in the PNAE.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Nutrition, Food Security and Nutrition, or related fields. Additionally, they should have a minimum of 5 years of proven professional experience in community nutrition, food education, or school feeding programs. Knowledge of school feeding guidelines or a willingness to learn about them is essential. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email) is required, along with an understanding of gender issues. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary, as well as the ability to work effectively with rural communities, teachers, and students. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork skills and excellent interpersonal relationships, along with the ability to write technical reports.
