Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in developing a compelling investment case for UNICEF Uzbekistan, focusing on health system strengthening, particularly in the Aral Sea region and primary health care reforms. The consultant will document key achievements and lessons learned from UNICEF's initiatives in WASH, PHC, and adolescent health, and create a data-driven narrative that combines quantitative evidence with storytelling to engage donors. This position requires collaboration with UNICEF teams to ensure quality assurance and effective dissemination of the investment case, which aims to attract further donor investments and showcase UNICEF's impact in improving health care access for women and children affected by climate challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a desk review of existing reports, evaluations, and communication materials to inform the investment case.
Develop a detailed outline and proposed structure for the investment case and related outputs.
Conduct fieldwork, including interviews and focus discussions with UNICEF staff and partners to gather insights and human-interest stories.
Identify and document six case studies that illustrate UNICEF's results in WASH, PHC, and Aral Sea health initiatives.
Draft engaging case studies and human-interest stories that integrate key statistics and program results.
Produce a donor-oriented investment case highlighting UNICEF's leadership and future opportunities.
Create a concept note articulating the intersection of various health interventions and their strategic value for donors.
Present preliminary drafts to UNICEF teams for feedback and revise deliverables accordingly.
Required Qualifications: The consultant must possess an advanced degree in Communications, Public Health, Social Sciences, Journalism, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in qualitative research, communication for development, or documentation of development programs is required. The candidate should have a proven track record in producing donor-oriented investment or advocacy materials and the ability to translate complex program results into compelling narratives.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in Communications, Public Health, Social Sciences, Journalism, or a related field is essential for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively communicate UNICEF's impact and develop persuasive investment cases for donors.
Experience: Candidates must have at least 8 years of relevant experience in qualitative research, communication for development, or documentation of development programs. This experience should include a proven ability to produce donor-oriented materials and effectively communicate complex program results in an engaging manner.
Languages: Excellent English writing and editing skills are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.
