Job Overview: The position involves the design, development, and launch of an interactive and scalable website using WordPress. This website will serve as a central hub for the dissemination and valorization of information and knowledge necessary for the development and implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (PNA) for climate change in Burundi. The consultant will be expected to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the website meets the needs of its users and effectively communicates relevant information regarding climate adaptation strategies. The project is expected to last for a total of 80 days, during which the consultant will be responsible for all phases of the website development process, from initial concept to final launch.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a needs assessment to identify the specific requirements for the website, including target audience, content needs, and functionality.
Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining the timeline, milestones, and deliverables for the website development process.
Design the website layout and user interface to ensure an engaging and user-friendly experience.
Create and organize content for the website, ensuring it is relevant, accurate, and accessible.
Implement the website using WordPress, ensuring that it is responsive and optimized for various devices.
Collaborate with UNDP and other stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments throughout the development process.
Conduct testing to ensure the website functions correctly and meets all technical requirements.
Provide training and support to UNDP staff on how to manage and update the website post-launch.
Develop a maintenance plan to ensure the website remains functional and up-to-date after the project is completed.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in web design and development, particularly using WordPress.
Strong understanding of user experience (UX) design principles and best practices.
Experience in creating interactive and scalable websites that are accessible to a wide audience.
Familiarity with climate change issues and the National Adaptation Plan (PNA) process in Burundi is an asset.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in French and English.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in web development, computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in web design and development is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in the context of climate change or sustainable development, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of Kirundi is also beneficial but not required.
Additional Notes: This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be completed within 80 days. The consultant will work remotely but must be available for meetings and consultations with UNDP staff in Burundi. The contract duration is temporary, and the consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's rates for individual contractors.
