Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator position is crucial for the successful implementation of the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) and Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) projects. Under the guidance of the Chief of Mission in the Country Office Slovakia and the direct supervision of the National Legal Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for developing, preparing, organizing, and delivering training programs related to migration and asylum. The role requires a proactive approach to planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, ensuring that all aspects of the projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The Project Coordinator will also compile and analyze data on project topics, monitor budget implementation, and act as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with various organizational units and external parties. This position demands strong communication skills, the ability to draft reports and correspondence, and the capacity to organize meetings and training sessions. The Project Coordinator will also be involved in maintaining effective liaison with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders relevant to the projects, ensuring compliance and reporting any non-compliance to the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for consideration.
  • Monitor budget implementation and propose necessary adjustments.
  • Act as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties.
  • Draft status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery, and suggest corrective measures.
  • Draft correspondence on project issues and prepare various forms of documentation.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in capacity-building workshops.
  • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; maintain files/records.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders. 1
  • Monitor the work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance. 1
  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers. 1
  • Provide guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of other staff in the unit. 1
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, a commitment to culturally competent communication, and the ability to adapt communication for different target groups. Knowledge of migration and asylum law and policy in Slovakia is essential, along with experience in developing and implementing training and workshops.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have either a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution. The educational background should be from universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have working experience in developing, organizing, and implementing training, events, and workshops, particularly in topics related to migration and intercultural communication. Experience in drafting publications and information materials, as well as communicating through various marketing channels, is also required. Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills are essential, along with experience working with communities, governments, civil society, and the private sector.

Languages:
Fluency in Slovak and English is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of other IOM official languages, such as French and Spanish, is considered an advantage. Effective communication skills in both languages are crucial for the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for 24 months. The post is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Slovakia will be considered. Appointment is contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations.
