In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. Job Overview:
The consultant will be engaged in the Unpaid Care Work Programme, which aims to address the inequities in unpaid care work that disproportionately affect women and girls. The overarching goal of the programme is to remove structural barriers to women's full and equal participation in the economy by recognizing, reducing, and redistributing unpaid care work. The consultant will report to the Unpaid Care Work Programme Coordinator and will be responsible for designing various reports and briefs related to Time and Energy Saving Equipment and Technologies (TESET), mapping care initiatives, and creating policy briefs. This role requires a strong commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to foster dialogue and promote effective solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Design the impact assessment report for Time and Energy Saving Equipment and Technologies (TESET).
  • Create a mapping report of care initiatives to foster dialogue among partners in Rwanda.
  • Develop a policy brief on Unpaid Care Work.
  • Design four project briefs related to the programme.
  • Produce six fact sheets based on existing study reports and two care tools. Each deliverable will have specific completion times and payment schedules, ensuring that the consultant meets deadlines and delivers quality results.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in graphics design and communication, or a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if combined with two additional years of qualifying experience.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and self-direction.
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure with colleagues at all levels.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in graphics design and communication, or a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible work experience in professional graphics design, with substantial consultancy experience and a proven track record of completing similar work. Experience in infographics design is required, and familiarity with UN and international organizations is considered an asset. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages, as well as experience with web-based management systems, is essential.

Languages:
