Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position at UNICEF is an entry-level professional role that reports to the Security Specialist or Operations Manager/Chief of Operations. This role is designed for individuals who are in the process of acquiring organizational knowledge and skills related to security management. The Security Officer will provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance in security management, focusing on security risk management, safety and security services, and building partnerships. The position is intended for individuals who are looking to grow within the organization and take on higher responsibilities in the future. The role involves learning about the UN system's rules and regulations while applying theoretical knowledge to practical situations in security management and emergency preparedness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Officer will be responsible for several key functions, including:
  • Security Risk Management and Planning: Assessing security risks and developing plans to mitigate them.
  • Safety and Security Services: Implementing safety protocols and ensuring the security of personnel and assets.
  • Security Networking and Partnership Building: Collaborating with other organizations and stakeholders to enhance security measures.
  • Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building: Contributing to the development of innovative security solutions and sharing knowledge within the organization. The role requires a proactive approach to security management and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, or related areas. A minimum of one year of professional experience in global security risk management or security analysis is required. Experience with the United Nations Security Management System is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of security principles and practices, as well as the ability to analyze and present security-related information effectively.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, Counter Terrorism, or another relevant technical field is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of security management and the challenges faced in various contexts.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis. Candidates with demonstrated international security management experience, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, will be preferred. This experience is crucial for effectively navigating the challenges associated with security in diverse environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset. Proficiency in multiple languages can enhance communication and collaboration within the organization and with external partners.
