Job Overview:
The Data Management Specialist will play a crucial role in the implementation of the project 'Transforming the Indus Basin with Climate Resilient Agriculture and Water Management in Punjab and Sindh Provinces' funded by the Green Climate Fund. This position focuses on developing the country’s capacity to cope with the impacts of climate change on agriculture and water management. The specialist will be responsible for managing a large volume of fragmented data related to project budgets, expenditures, beneficiaries, and capacity building. The role requires the development of budget-related Excel sheets, a comprehensive database of project information, and the analysis of data for effective planning and reporting. The specialist will work under the supervision of the Technical Advisor and in close coordination with various stakeholders, ensuring that data management practices align with project goals and contribute to the overall success of the initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Management Specialist will be tasked with gathering various data related to the project and organizing it in a central folder or server. This includes data on budget, expenditures, project beneficiaries, training records, travel records, communication records with partners, and links to project-developed software/tools. The specialist will maintain a searchable database for project staff, prepare budget sheets during project planning activities, and extract relevant data for reporting purposes as needed. Additionally, the specialist will provide capacity building to project staff on the use of the database and assist them when required. The role also involves developing a final report that describes achieved tasks, challenges faced, and recommendations for improving data management. The specialist may also support other tasks related to FAO Pakistan’s projects and programs beyond the specific project mentioned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, data management, or a closely related field. A minimum of 1 year of experience in the development sector, specifically in data management, is required. Familiarity with data management tools and software is essential, along with a working knowledge of English at level C. Candidates should demonstrate competencies in results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, data management, or a closely related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of data management and analysis within the context of agricultural and water management projects.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience working in the development sector, particularly in areas related to data management. Experience in handling project data within a UN organization is strongly desired, as is experience in writing reports that involve collecting, analyzing, and presenting project data. This level of experience is essential for effectively managing the data needs of the project and ensuring accurate reporting.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English at level C is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions where the project is implemented.
