Job Overview: The National ProjectCoordinator (NPC) will play a crucial role in the project titled 'Promoting Sustainability and Decent Work in the PET Recycling Value Chain – A Pilot Project in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT)'. This initiative aims to enhance sustainable plastic waste management while supporting informal waste workers in Pakistan's capital region. The NPC will be responsible for coordinating and implementing project activities, ensuring that results are delivered on time and in accordance with the approved work plan and strategic objectives. The project seeks to address the challenges of low PET recovery rates due to fragmented waste systems and the marginalization of informal workers. The NPC will report directly to the Technical Specialist and collaborate closely with the Senior Programme Officer at the Country Office, ensuring effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Project Coordinator include: reviewing and analyzing country-specific development plans and socioeconomic data related to PET recycling and climate change; designing and implementing project activities that align with relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); monitoring project progress by reviewing work plans and reports; liaising with government offices and other organizations to facilitate project implementation; providing programming and administrative support; preparing briefs and reports on project status; managing project resources and budget estimates; organizing conferences and training sessions; briefing the Country Office and program team on project matters; leading the preparation of technical reports and progress updates; mobilizing resources for project sustainability; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Industrial Relations, Labour Studies, Economics, Management, Social Sciences, climate change, or other relevant fields. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of policies and legislation related to human rights and due diligence, as well as experience in project management and implementation.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Relations, Labour Studies, Economics, Management, Social Sciences, or climate change is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage and coordinate the project activities.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience in areas such as skills and job creation, enterprise development, industrial relations, or international relations. Experience in project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation is essential, along with proven experience in liaising with government bodies and development partners. Preference will be given to candidates with experience at the national level in these areas.
Languages: Good knowledge of English is mandatory, and familiarity with local languages spoken in Pakistan would be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to engage with diverse stakeholders and present project information clearly.
