Job Overview:
The Operations Analyst position is integral to the Environmental and Social Risk Management Unit within the World Bank Group. The analyst will support the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) Practice Managers and the Planet Regional Director in monitoring, reporting, and managing workflows related to the ESF and Planet portfolio in the East Asia and Pacific region. This role requires collaboration with operations officers and environmental and social technical leads to ensure effective portfolio management. The analyst will be expected to develop strong working relationships with team leads across the region, contributing to the overall success of the department's objectives. The position demands a proactive approach to managing multiple workstreams and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Analyst will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting the ESF Practice Managers in monitoring and reporting on the ESF and Planet portfolio.
  • Collaborating with operations officers to oversee the department's overall portfolio management.
  • Conducting operational portfolio analysis and utilizing Bank portfolio monitoring tools.
  • Assisting in project management by identifying key risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Engaging with team leads to ensure effective communication and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Utilizing advanced functions of Bank technology packages, including SAP and Microsoft Project, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Preparing reports and presentations that clearly articulate issues and recommend solutions.
  • Maintaining a high level of energy and initiative to drive results and support the team's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Political Science, Social Science, or International Relations, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with Bank Instruments, Policies, Procedures, and Systems, particularly in environmental and social risk management, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate experience in operational portfolio analysis and project management methodologies. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, in English are mandatory, and proficiency in advanced technology tools used within the Bank is required. A good team player who can work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment is essential.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a Master’s degree in a field relevant to the World Bank's mission, such as Economics, Political Science, Social Science, or International Relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of development challenges and the operational frameworks within which the World Bank operates.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in operational analysis, project management, or a related field. Candidates should have hands-on experience with portfolio management and a solid understanding of the World Bank's operational processes and policies. Experience in environmental and social risk management is advantageous, as is familiarity with the Bank's safeguards policies and performance standards.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. While additional languages are not specified as required, knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders across the East Asia and Pacific region.
