Job Overview: The Senior IT Officer, Architecture I position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU). This role is designed to support the organization's mission of eradicating extreme poverty and enhancing shared prosperity through the delivery of transformative information and technologies. The Senior Enterprise Architect will lead the implementation of SAFe Agile architecture practices, ensuring that the architecture aligns with the strategic goals of the organization. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and governance discipline, as well as the ability to foster innovation and share best practices across the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining reference architectures, leading technology planning, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of the World Bank Group's technology strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Enterprise Architect will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Establishing and executing the architecture runway by integrating architecture enablers into SAFe Agile delivery cycles and partnering with portfolio and solution management.
Developing and maintaining guardrails and policies for technology, data, and application design, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
Creating and maintaining reusable reference architectures and solution patterns that incorporate AI and Generative AI best practices.
Leading strategic technology planning, including roadmaps for emerging technologies and cloud adoption.
Driving technology and application rationalization to reduce technical debt at the enterprise level.
Identifying and integrating AI capabilities that align with the World Bank Group's mission, ensuring ethical and value-driven adoption.
Defining, measuring, and reporting on EA-driven business outcomes and technology health indicators.
Collaborating with business lines, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, shared services, and technology teams to align investments and execution with the organization's strategy.
Leading proof of concepts (PoCs) and participating in communities of practice to share lessons learned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Additionally, an Enterprise Architecture certification such as TOGAF or EACOE is preferred. Candidates should also have SAFe Agilist or SAFe Architect certification, along with hands-on experience in managing the Architecture Runway. A cloud architecture certification (AWS and/or Azure) is also preferred. Proven experience in defining and enforcing enterprise guardrails, policies, and governance frameworks is essential, as well as exposure to AI and Generative AI technologies and responsible AI practices. Candidates should have strong analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills, along with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience. Advanced certifications in Enterprise Architecture (such as TOGAF or EACOE) and cloud architecture (AWS and/or Azure) are highly desirable, as they demonstrate a commitment to professional development and expertise in the field.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience leading enterprise architecture in a large, complex, global enterprise. This experience should include a strong background in enterprise integration, API management, and data governance, as well as a proven track record in technology/application rationalization and reducing technical debt. The ideal candidate will also have experience evaluating cloud service designs and alternatives to achieve a balance of performance, risk, and cost.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. While not required, proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they align with the World Bank Group's operational regions.
