Job Overview: The Manager of Enterprise Architecture will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape of the World Bank Group. This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of the enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring that all technology investments align with the organization's mission and business objectives. The manager will oversee a team of architects, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation while driving digital transformation initiatives. The role requires a visionary leader who can communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that technology serves as a strategic enabler for achieving the Bank Group's development goals. Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager, Enterprise Architecture will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: developing and implementing a comprehensive enterprise architecture strategy and annual roadmap; removing barriers to innovation; serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership; leading the creation and enforcement of architecture standards; establishing architecture governance processes; providing architectural oversight for major technology initiatives; managing the WBG application portfolio; maintaining the business process catalog; developing user journey maps; establishing development and UX standards; fostering relationships with partners; mentoring a diverse team of architects; and measuring the effectiveness of architecture initiatives. The manager will also be tasked with delivering specific outcomes within the first year, such as launching a detailed roadmap, establishing feedback loops with stakeholders, and rationalizing applications to reduce technology debt.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience. A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible IT and architecture leadership experience is required, including at least 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise architecture and technology strategy within large organizations. Mastery of enterprise architecture frameworks, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies is essential, along with experience in leading architecture review boards and managing compliance and risk. Strong leadership, team building, and stakeholder engagement skills are critical for success in this role.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree combined with extensive relevant experience (at least 15 years) is acceptable. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in technology and architecture principles, as well as an understanding of the complexities involved in managing technology in a global context.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in IT and architecture leadership, with at least 10 years of direct experience in enterprise architecture and technology strategy. Experience in large, complex organizations, particularly in financial, governmental, or multinational sectors, is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives and managing high-performing teams.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred but not required. Candidates who can communicate effectively in multiple languages may have an advantage in this role, particularly in a diverse and global organization like the World Bank Group.
