Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) was established on May 29, 1948, following the United Nations security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council resolution 50 (1948). Its primary mission is to observe and maintain ceasefires in Palestine and assist in the supervision of the 1949 Armistice Agreements. UNTSO operates in five countries: Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and the Syrian Arab Republic. The organization is dedicated to promoting peace and security in the region, and it employs a diverse workforce committed to these goals.

Job Overview:
The Field Security Assistant position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of UN personnel and facilities in the region. The incumbent will work within the Security Information and Operations Center (SIOC) at UNTSO Headquarters in Jerusalem, reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Security Officer. This role involves monitoring security developments, drafting reports, and ensuring effective communication regarding security incidents. The Field Security Assistant will also be responsible for populating the Situational Awareness Geographical Environment Database (SAGE) with relevant security-related incidents, preparing daily and weekly reports, and assisting in the preparation of briefings. The position requires a proactive approach to security management and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Security Assistant will perform a variety of functions under the supervision of the Chief Security Officer and the Deputy Chief Security Officer. Key responsibilities include: populating the SAGE database with security incidents, drafting daily incident reports, monitoring security developments, summarizing security-related headlines from local media, translating documents from Arabic or Hebrew to English, preparing daily and weekly security reports, assisting with regional liaison visit security reports, presenting analytical briefs, supervising Field Security Assistants, ensuring adherence to security protocols, conducting security surveys, and liaising with host government security officials. The incumbent will also support emergency response efforts, assist in fire safety inspections, and maintain accurate logbook entries. Shift duties, including night shifts, may be required as assigned by the supervisory staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, with additional training in information analysis or a related field being desirable. A valid driver's license in Israel and the West Bank is required. Proficiency in Office applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is essential. Experience in preparing briefings and knowledge of SAGE or similar applications for security information analysis is desirable. Candidates should also have experience in drafting security-related documents and reports.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma is mandatory for this position. Additional training in information analysis or open-source information is preferred, as it enhances the candidate's ability to perform the required functions effectively.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible security experience is required, preferably with a local, national, or private police, security, or fire brigade organization. This requirement is reduced to three years for candidates holding a first-level university degree or higher. Experience within the UN or other international organizations' security services is considered an asset, as it demonstrates familiarity with the unique security challenges faced by such entities.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position. Proficiency in either Arabic or Hebrew is desirable, as it facilitates communication and understanding of local contexts. Candidates should refer to the UN Language Framework for specific language skill requirements.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require shift work, including night shifts. The role is based in Jerusalem, Israel, and involves working closely with various security and operational teams.
