Job Overview: The Social MediaIntern will be part of the Russian language team within the Social Media Section of the Communications Campaigns Service, which is part of the Department of Global Communications. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in social media management and communications within a global context. The intern will engage in various tasks that support the UN's social media initiatives, which are crucial for disseminating information and engaging with the public. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. The intern will assist in creating and managing content across multiple social media platforms, contributing to the UN's mission of effective communication and outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: researching, compiling, drafting, and editing information for social media content; monitoring and analyzing social media statistics; gathering content from special events such as film screenings and concerts; assisting in the creation of original content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn; attending meetings as an observer; managing meeting agendas and drafting notes; and assisting with special projects as assigned. The intern will also be expected to demonstrate familiarity with digital photography and graphic design software, which will enhance the quality of the content produced.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. While professional experience is not required, a field of study related to the internship is necessary. Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in relevant software programs such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop. Additionally, a strong interest in social media and digital communication is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a degree at the graduate level (Master’s or Ph.D.) or be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program. The educational background should ideally be in communications, media studies, international relations, or a related field.
