Job Overview:
The Science Study Coordination Support Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Methane Science Studies Coordinator in the development and execution of projects focused on methane emissions reduction. This position involves streamlining processes and tracking results to ensure effective implementation of ongoing and new studies. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining communication with various stakeholders, managing information, and ensuring that all activities align with the goals of the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO). The consultant will report directly to the Methane Science Study Manager and will be expected to work collaboratively with a diverse team, contributing to the overall mission of reducing methane emissions and supporting climate action initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include supporting the Methane Science Studies Coordinator in day-to-day operations, maintaining trackers for IMEO science activities, preparing donor agreements, and participating in progress reporting meetings. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing contracts with scientific partners, coordinating meetings and events related to science studies, and supporting internal coordination within IMEO. Specific tasks will involve building and maintaining trackers for monitoring project statuses, supporting the development of donor agreements, and assisting in the organization of science-related events and meetings. The consultant will also draft agendas and meeting summaries, and help facilitate synergy between science and other workstreams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in environmental studies or energy. A minimum of three years of professional experience in environmental affairs is required, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in preparing project documents, coordination, and reporting for development projects funded by international donor agencies. Experience working with international organizations and government counterparts is also highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as environmental studies, energy, or a related discipline. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of environmental issues and the methodologies used in project development and execution.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in environmental affairs, with a strong emphasis on project management and coordination. Candidates should have a proven track record of working on development projects funded by international donor agencies, showcasing their ability to navigate the complexities of international collaboration and reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment and engage with diverse stakeholders.

This consultancy position is expected to last for 12 months and is fully remote.
