Job Overview: The position of Conductor at UNFPA involves providing safe and reliable transportation services to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, Head of Office, and other staff members, as well as visitors arriving in the Dominican Republic. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility and an excellent understanding of safety protocols and issues. The Conductor will report directly to the Head of Office and is expected to demonstrate a customer-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The position is open to local personnel, emphasizing the importance of local knowledge and cultural sensitivity in fulfilling the responsibilities effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Conductor will be responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services, which includes: driving office vehicles for the transportation of staff, officials, and UNFPA visitors; delivering and collecting mail and documentation; receiving official staff and visitors at the airport, including managing visa and customs procedures when necessary; staying informed about traffic conditions, road safety, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security awareness to ensure safe and timely arrivals at meetings; managing all aspects of vehicle maintenance, performing minor repairs and cleaning, and organizing major repairs and servicing to keep the vehicle in good working condition; maintaining daily vehicle logs; assisting in the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and historical reports; keeping track of insurance and tax documentation; guiding and training junior drivers as appropriate; and assisting country office staff with general administrative tasks as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess completed secondary education. They should have at least three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven record of safe driving. Knowledge of driving regulations, protocol, and chauffeur courtesies, as well as local road conditions, is essential. Candidates should also have skills in minor vehicle repairs and must hold a valid driver's license.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of experience working as a driver in an international context, such as with an embassy or within the UN system. This experience should include a strong track record of safe driving and familiarity with local driving regulations and conditions.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is required for both oral and written communication. This proficiency is essential for effective interaction with staff and visitors.
