Job Overview:
The Supply Chain Officer position at WFP is crucial for providing analytics and contributions to supply chain activities, ensuring that food assistance needs of beneficiaries are met effectively. The role involves working closely with senior Supply Chain Officers and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and operational optimization. The officer will be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain plans and procedures aligned with WFP's global strategy, conducting country context analyses, and managing end-to-end operational supply chain networks. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to humanitarian efforts and possess strong analytical skills to support supply chain operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of supply chain plans and procedures to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Analyzing country contexts and managing supply chain networks to address operational challenges.
  • Implementing supply chain operations and initiatives to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement in supply chain operations.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with key supply chain functions to ensure integrated approaches to food assistance.
  • Conducting market analysis and supply chain mapping to support operational decisions.
  • Supporting procurement programs and operational activities, including issuing tenders and evaluating offers.
  • Monitoring supply chain activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and enhance performance.
  • Preparing reports and dashboards on supply chain activities for informed decision-making. 1
  • Guiding and supervising staff, providing training and support for complex analyses. 1
  • Contributing to emergency preparedness actions and quick response initiatives. 1
  • Performing other duties as required to support the overall mission of WFP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and experience in supply chain management. They should have a proven track record of supporting analytical work on supply chain strategy and implementation, as well as experience in designing operational plans in collaboration with stakeholders. Familiarity with supply chain information systems and troubleshooting operational issues is essential. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A minimum of an advanced university degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. Continuous professional development through training and courses is encouraged.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in analyzing operational contexts and trends, supporting supply chain strategy implementation, and working with supply chain information systems. Experience in troubleshooting and solving operational issues is also necessary. The role is suited for individuals who have previously worked in humanitarian or development contexts, particularly in supply chain roles.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in Spanish (level C) is mandatory, along with fluency in English (level C). Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

This position is full-time and based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The role may involve occasional travel to field locations.
