Job Overview:
The position of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Management Support is critical in ensuring effective safety and security management for UN Offices and Agencies operating in Greece. The individual contractor will be tasked with supporting the implementation of the security plan and addressing all matters related to safety and security management. The role requires close collaboration with the UNEP/MAP Coordinator and the Regional Security Assistant to provide direct technical guidance to the Security Management Team and UN coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Coordination Team. The contractor will be responsible for monitoring security conditions across Greece, intervening in security-related incidents, and maintaining detailed records of such incidents. The position also involves preparing security reports, liaising with local government officials, and assisting in the development and updating of the Security Risk Management and Country Security Plan. The contractor will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of UN personnel and their dependents, as well as supporting training initiatives related to security awareness and preparedness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Security Management Support position include: closely monitoring security conditions in Greece, providing immediate support to UN staff during security incidents, assisting in investigations and reporting on security-related incidents, maintaining accurate records of incidents, preparing security reports, liaising with host nation government officials and UN managers, drafting updates for the Security Risk Management and Country Security Plan, ensuring compliance with the Greece Physical Security Assessment for UN facilities, conducting security evaluations and surveys, representing the Regional Security Assistant at meetings when necessary, organizing and conducting security training courses for new staff, assisting Wardens in their responsibilities, providing dedicated support for security issues related to UN agencies with elevated security risks, and performing any other duties as assigned by the Designated Official or Regional Security Assistant.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of a High School Degree. Additionally, candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant working experience, specifically with the Greek police or military, either as a commissioned officer or a senior non-commissioned officer. Previous field experience in a security-related role with a UN agency, international NGO, or UN Peacekeeping mission is highly desirable. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is also required to effectively perform the job duties.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a High School Degree. This educational background is essential for understanding the basic principles of security management and the operational requirements of the position.

Experience:
The role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, particularly in security roles within the Greek police or military. Experience in a security-related position with a UN agency, international NGO, or UN Peacekeeping mission is considered an asset, as it provides valuable insights into the unique security challenges faced by international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Greek, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. This language proficiency is crucial for effective communication with UN personnel, local officials, and during security incidents. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not specified as a requirement.
