Job Overview: The intern will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission for IOM Denmark and the direct supervision of the Senior Media and Communications Associate. The role involves a variety of internal and external communications activities, with a focus on media and communications related to the programmes managed by IOM Denmark. The successful candidate will assist in updating and maintaining the country office website, drafting written content such as press releases and articles, and supporting social media management by regularly posting on IOM Denmark's social media platforms. Additionally, the intern will design visibility materials in coordination with the Senior Media and Communications Associate, monitor Danish media and government press products, contribute to event organization, assist in preparing communications presentations, and help with the monthly newsletter and weekly news briefs. The position requires a proactive approach to communication and a willingness to take on various tasks as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Update and maintain the country office website to ensure it reflects current information and activities.
Draft written content including press releases, feature stories, and articles to promote IOM Denmark's initiatives.
Manage social media accounts by regularly posting updates and engaging with followers.
Design visibility materials such as mission and project factsheets, banners, and other promotional items.
Monitor Danish media and government press products to stay informed about relevant news and developments.
Contribute to the organization of events, ensuring proper visibility support is provided.
Assist in preparing communications presentations for both internal and external audiences.
Help with the production of the monthly newsletter and weekly news briefs.
Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
A university bachelor’s degree in media and communications, Public Information, Political or Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
Proficiency in English and Danish is required for the internship.
Familiarity with website content management systems and social media tools is essential.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to draft clearly and concisely are necessary.
Ability to work effectively in a team with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a university bachelor’s degree in media and communications, Public Information, Political or Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Additionally, students enrolled in a master’s degree programme in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field in an accredited academic institution in Denmark are also eligible, particularly if the internship is required to complete their studies.
Experience: The position requires experience in producing, editing, and disseminating multimedia content for online audiences, particularly through social media. Familiarity with content management systems and advanced tools for online publishing and distribution of content is desirable. The ideal candidate should have a background that demonstrates their ability to manage and create engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Danish is mandatory for this internship position. A working knowledge of Swedish is considered an advantage, as it may enhance communication with a broader audience and facilitate engagement with Swedish-speaking communities.
Additional Notes: The internship is for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension up to 9 months. The program aims to attract talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Candidates must be holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations or be sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions.
