Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position in Resource Management at IOM Denmark is designed to provide the successful candidate with hands-on experience in administrative, financial, and human resources tasks within a multicultural environment. The intern will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Senior Resource Management Associate. This role is crucial for supporting the Resource Management team and involves a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the organization. The intern will gain exposure to IOM's internal operations and resource management practices, which will be beneficial for their professional development and understanding of international migration issues.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to: assisting in drafting and formatting routine correspondence, reports, and presentations; setting up and maintaining office files and reference systems according to standard procedures; initiating, viewing, and tracking various financial and administrative transactions in WAVE (IOM’s ERP system); creating Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders in WAVE; creating new Vendor Accounts in WAVE; supporting the organization and administration of meetings, workshops, and events; providing assistance with travel arrangements, including transport, accommodation, and documentation; assisting in recruitment processes such as circulating vacancy announcements, arranging interviews, preparing materials for interviews and technical tests, supporting reference checks, and communicating with candidates; monitoring and replenishing office supplies; and performing other clerical tasks to support the smooth running of activities in the Unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, human resources, or related fields from an accredited institution. Additionally, experience in administrative or financial support roles is desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is essential. Prior experience in international or multicultural settings is considered an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A client-oriented approach and discretion are also important, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this internship includes a Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, human resources, or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates who are currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in these fields are also eligible, particularly if the internship is required to complete their studies or if they are sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some experience in administrative or financial support roles, although this is not strictly required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is necessary, and prior experience in international or multicultural settings will be viewed favorably. The internship is aimed at students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in resource management within an international organization.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Danish is considered an advantage but is not required. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and familiarity with these languages can enhance communication within the organization.
Additional Notes: The internship is set for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension up to 9 months. The program aims to attract talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in IOM's programs and activities. Candidates must hold a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations or be sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions. The appointment is subject to funding confirmation and certification of medical fitness, as well as any residency or visa requirements.
